Geoffrey Tahuahua Announces Candidacy for Hays County Judge
Today, I’m announcing my candidacy for Hays County Judge. My upbringing and life experiences have prepared me for this job. I will tackle the challenges we face as one of the fastest-growing counties in the state and country—challenges like growth, public safety, and infrastructure. As County Judge, I will restore trust in county government by leading with integrity and accountability.
I grew up in West Texas, the son of first-generation Americans who built a life for our family through grit, faith, and hard work. My family wasn’t wealthy or well-connected, but with determination and perseverance, my parents eventually became small business owners, living the American dream. They taught me that real success comes from doing what’s right—not what’s popular—and being willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.
My wife Katie’s small-town roots are just down the road in Wimberley, and for nearly a decade, we’ve been proud to call Hays County home. We’re raising our three sons here, and like so many families, we care deeply about where this community is headed. It’s not just about our lives — it’s about the next generation.
As a Dripping Springs City Council member, I’ve focused on practical solutions and long-term planning—investing in roads, stewarding tax dollars wisely, and preparing for the future. I believe Hays County is ready for leadership that’s serious, forward-thinking, and rooted in community.
Thank you to everyone who showed up at the Founders Day Parade today—it was the perfect place to kick off this campaign. I’ll be hitting the ground running in the weeks ahead, listening, learning, and sharing more about how we can build a stronger Hays County together.
